February is Low Vision Awareness Month - Bella Eye Care Optometry

February is Low Vision Awareness Month.  Low vision is a visual impairment that cannot be corrected by standard eyeglasses, contact lenses, medication, or surgery. Having low vision can make activities like reading, shopping, cooking, writing, and watching TV hard to do. There  are over 4 million Americans suffering from Low VIsion today. In addition, the consequences of vision loss may leave people feeling anxious, helpless, and depressed. Vision rehabilitation can help people with vision loss to maximize their remaining vision and maintain their independence and quality of life. If you believe someone in your life has low vision, schedule an appointment with one of our doctors of Optometry and let us help with an appropriate treatment plan. Treatment plans may include prescription glasses, specialized optical systems, therapeutic filters, non-optical options, video magnification, and/or medical rehabilitative therapy to maximize the ability to perform activities of daily living such as self-care, dressing, grooming, eating, and bathing.
